i knew i was dead and the big question was where am i headed. a smoky, dark umber room full of people standing around the thunder dome. still optimistic, i thought maybe this was just the waiting room to heaven. I tapped the shoulder in front of me asked what was going on. the face was an AI mangled beauty queen rendering with black pits for eyes. ‘what’s happening ?’ i asked. ‘karaoke,’ it answered as two terrified beings were forced into the pit and the crowd erupted in a roar and two microphones dropped from the ceiling, ‘while being tortured. if you stop singing it gets so much worse.’
‘…this isn’t heaven, is it?’ i asked and the render’s mouth split into a grin of sharp teeth that stretched its plastic face wide. ‘sure, sure it is. pick a good song when it’s your turn, something with a lot of high notes.’

CALAVERAS de MUERTOS
13 individual Calaveras de Muertos
Día de Muertos stems from ancient Aztec tradition. The skulls or ‘Calaveras’ celebrate the ascent to higher consciousness after death. They are a symbol not of death, but rebirth.
